In March 2024, we will take our brand new servers live with Raidboxes 2.0. ๐ŸŽŠ New Boxes will receive double the server resources and benefit from a whole range of new security features. Of course, existing Boxes will also be upgraded so that they can benefit from increased performance and the new features.

We'll be migrating your Boxes in three phases:

  • In phase 1, we will move all Mini, Starter, Fully Managed and Pro Boxes that are exclusively connected to domains whose DNS records are managed by us.

  • In phase 2, all other Mini, Starter, Fully Managed and Pro Boxes will follow.

  • And in phase 3, all remaining High Traffic Boxes will be moved (Pro XL and above).

Schedule for the free server upgrade

Phase 1 migrations are fully automated

Phase 1 will begin in the second quarter of 2024 and will only affect Mini, Starter, Fully Managed and Pro Boxes whose domains are fully managed by us. This ensures that we have full access to the DNS records of these domains during the migration and that there is no additional work for you in terms of DNS configuration.

๐Ÿ’ก How can I tell if a domain is fully managed by Raidboxes?

If you can see the domain in your domain overview and the Raidboxes nameservers in its DNS settings, you can be sure that the domain is completely managed by us.

The Raidboxes standard nameservers.

During the migration, we will clone your Box to our new servers and automatically adjust your domains' DNS settings so that it resolves to the new Box.

๐Ÿ“† We will announce the exact start date for these migrations - and you will be kept up to date by our system via email when the migration begins and is completed.

A manual DNS update is required for migrations in phase 2

Phase 2 migrations will then affect all Mini, Starter, Fully Managed and Pro Boxes that use at least one domain whose DNS records are not managed by us.

This is how a migration for boxes with an external domain works:

  1. We create a clone of your site on our new servers.

  2. We ensure that your domain resolves correctly to the IP of the new box for 14 days via proxy (a type of domain forwarding).

  3. You then have 14 days to adjust the DNS settings of your external domains accordingly.

๐Ÿ“† We will inform you of the exact start date of phase 2 as soon as possible. And our system will inform you by email about the specific time of the migrations for your Boxes.

Phase 3 migrations only affect High Traffic Boxes

In the last step, we finally move all High Traffic Boxes to the new servers. Specifically, this affects all boxes from the Pro XL plan upwards.
