The server configuration section of your mailbox overview is the main area for managing your new mailbox.
Server configuration – Important info
The server configuration shows you the most important information about your
mailbox, namely the incoming and outgoing mail servers. In other words, all the
information you need to manage incoming and outgoing mail.
This is particularly important if you want to configure SMTP plugins
or email clients.
IMAP and SMTP explained
SMTP refers to the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is only relevant for
sending email. For example, when you want to configure an SMTP plugin.
IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol and is the standard
method for receiving email at Raidboxes. Emails between the client and the
mail server are constantly synchronized with this method. In concrete terms,
this means if you delete an email from one of your clients, it will also be
deleted from the mail server. So if you delete an email on your
smartphone, for example, it will also be deleted from your web server.
Incoming mail server
This is where you find the data for receiving email via IMAP and POP3. We
recommend you always receive email via IMAP.
Outgoing mail server
This information is needed for applications that require you to set up an
outgoing server to send email. This applies, for example, to SMTP plugins.
