Offline migrations are part of our free migration service. An offline migration is necessary when your website is not available online, e.g. if you developed the website locally. As with a managed migration, you can submit an offline migration request via the form in the Raidboxes Dashboard.

If your website is available online, please request a managed migration and not an offline migration.

What data is needed?

For a manual upload of your site, we need the wp-content file (in zip format) and a current copy of your SQL file (also known as SQL dump). You can give us access to these files via a cloud service of your choice.

How do I get the data?

The first step is to compress your wp-content file. Find out how to do this in Windows 10 here: How to zip files in Windows 10. For mac users, please go to: How to zip and unzip files.

For the next step, you need access to the database management system where you will save copy of your database (dump). Use the export function to download the dump as an SQL file.

Upload the data to the cloud

Now upload the files to a cloud service of your choice, e.g. WeTransfer.

If you use WeTransfer, you will be sent a link via email that can be used to retrieve the files.

Fill out the migration form

Copy and paste the download link for your WordPress files in the migration form. Now select which Box your WordPress site should be migrated to.

After you submit your migration request, we take care of everything else for you. We will let you know via email as soon as the migration is complete.
