If you own a .de domain, you will be required to verify your contact information with DENIC starting April 14, 2026. If you fail to do so, DENIC may deactivate or even delete your domain.

In this article, you’ll learn how to protect your domain from being deactivated.

Why do you need to verify your information?

This is due to a new EU cybersecurity law (NIS-2). It requires DENIC – the official registry for .de domains – to ensure that every .de domain is assigned to a real, reachable person or organization.

This means: Your contact information (email address, name, address, phone number) must be correct and verified by you. Specifically, this applies to the data in the so-called Owner-C record.

What exactly do you need to do?

To verify your account, you will receive an email from do-not-reply@domain-robot.org – this email contains a confirmation link that you must click.

To ensure that the email is sent to the correct address, you must first check the domain owner's contact information on file and update it if necessary.

Updating Contact Information (Owner-C)

If your information is no longer up to date and you need to update it before verification, please follow these instructions.

What happens if you don't respond?

⚠️ Please never ignore these verification emails. Once you receive them, you only have 7 days to click the confirmation link.

If you don't respond, your domain will be deactivated after the 7-day period expires. This means that your website and all email accounts using this domain will no longer be accessible.

What happens

When

Domain gets deactivated

7 days after the verification request

The domain will be permanently deleted

90 days after deactivation

After deactivation, you will have another 90 days to verify your identity with DENIC. If you allow this period to expire as well, your domain will be permanently deleted – and it will no longer be possible to restore it.

What should you do if you haven't received an email or your domain has been deactivated?

Can't find the email from DENIC?

Check the domain owner’s (Owner-C) email address on file in your Raidboxes dashboard (see following instructions). Updating your information will trigger the email to be sent again, allowing you to restart the verification process. If you’re having trouble, be sure to check your spam folder.

Has your domain been deactivated?

Please update your contact information to reactivate the domain. If you have any questions, log in to the Raidboxes Dashboard and contact us directly via live chat.

Newly registered or transferred domains

Verification will also be triggered automatically for domains that you register or transfer after April 14, 2026.
