Step 1: Activate your Box

Since a multidomain Multisite is set up on its own domains, the Box must be activated in the first step. Click on the orange banner at the top of the Box Dashboard to start the purchase.

Step 2: Connect domain / configure displayed domain

Once your Box is active, the next step is to configure the displayed domain. You can adjust this in the Box Dashboard in the tile Domains. To do this, click on the icon next to Displayed domain.

Step 2.1 Link domain with Box.

After you've added the domain in the dashboard, you now need to link it to the Box. The procedure is identical for both single sites and Multisite setups: an A-record must be set with the Box IP in the domain's DNS settings.

The following articles explain how to do this in detail:

Note: You can also directly make the DNS entries for any additional (secondary) domains you plan to add. You need to set up an A-record with the Box IP for every additional secondary domain or subsite.

Step 3: Add secondary domain(s)

In the next step, we add the domains of the desired subsites. To do this, we click on the icon next to Secondary domains (1) in the domains tile and then on "+ New secondary domain" and enter the other domains of the subsites. In this example, I add another domain, wapuu-quartett.de.

Afterwards, the DNS entries for the secondary domains must also be set as in step 2.1, if you haven't done it already.

Optional: Finally, I add a redirect from www.wapuu-quartett.de to the domain without www. here.

Step 3.1 Activate SSL

Once everything is configured and the DNS settings are successfully recognized, our example looks like this:

Now you can activate SSL for all the domains you entered. Go to the Settings tab in the Box and switch the SSL toggle to ON.

Step 4: Create Multisite subsites

Now all domains are linked, we can create the subsites of the Multisite. Click on Go to Multisite settings in the Box Dashboard (3 on the screenshot above).

There we click on the + icon (create entry). A modal opens and we select the domain for which the subsite is to be created and click on the Create site button.

The newly created subsite is now displayed in the list.

Please note: It can take up to five minutes for our system to set up the redirects.

You can now also log in to the WordPress Dashboard and see the new network pages in the network management.

Create your subsites (from the WordPress Dashboard)

In step 1 we had created our new subsites from the Raidboxes Dashboard. As an alternative, you can add new subsites directly from the WordPress dashboard. To do so, got to your Network Admin --> sites. Click the Add New Button or the menu item to create a new subsite. In the next step will add the new site with a subdomain of the primary domain of the network

After you have created the new subsite, you can change the domain name via the Network Admin. Navigate to Network Admin --> Sites and click on the name of the site you just have created. Now enter the domain name in the Site Address (URL) - Field

As a last step, you have to add the new domain as a secondary domain to the Box's domain settings like we did in Step 3

The newly added website will also show up in the list of websites in your Multisite settings in the Raidboxes dashboard a few moments later.
