What is the WordPress table prefix?
WordPress stores your website's content, settings, and other information in a database. This database contains multiple tables that share a common prefix.
By default, WordPress uses the prefix wp_.
For example, the tables are named:
wp_postswp_optionswp_users
If a different prefix was used when the website was set up, the tables might instead be named:
website_postswebsite_optionswebsite_users
In this case, the WordPress configuration must use the prefix website_.
You can identify the correct table prefix by looking at the names of your existing database tables. You can view these using a database management tool such as phpMyAdmin.
When do I need to change the table prefix?
You may need to change the table prefix after manually migrating a WordPress website or importing an existing database, particularly if the imported tables use a different prefix from the one currently configured in WordPress.
⚠️ Important: Changing the table prefix in the Raidboxes Dashboard only updates the corresponding value in your WordPress configuration file (wp-config.php).
Your existing database tables are not renamed.
The prefix you enter must match the prefix used by your existing database tables. Otherwise, WordPress may no longer be able to access its data, and your website may stop working correctly.
