Data Act at Raidboxes

The EU Data Act gives you the right to access your data and export it in a commonly used, machine-readable format. This article explains what data is stored at Raidboxes, where to find it, and how to export it.

Written by Robin Herold

Under the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854), you have the right to access your data at any time and export it in a commonly used, machine-readable format. The regulation has been directly applicable in all EU member states since September 12, 2025.

This article explains what data is generated and stored at Raidboxes and within our add-ons, where you can access it, how to export it, and which data cannot be exported. If a particular data category does not have a dedicated export function, you can copy the information directly from the interface or save it as a PDF using your browser's print function.

In addition to exporting a complete database dump, WordPress provides its own built-in export tool. This tool exports your content as an XML file in WXR format, which can be imported into any WordPress installation.

This method is more platform-independent than an SQL dump and is particularly useful if you only want to transfer your content rather than migrate your entire WordPress installation.

Access: WordPress admin area → Tools → Export (WordPress import and export tutorial)

Export: XML file (WXR), including either all content or selected content types

WooCommerce: Products and orders can also be exported using WooCommerce's CSV export functions under Products → Export or through the orders overview.

Note: WXR exports do not include themes, plugins, or original media files. These are included in your backups and can also be downloaded via SFTP.

21. Cache and performance settings

Examples: Caching rules, cache lifetime, Redis Object Cache in the Dynamic+ add-on

Access: Email section of the Dashboard, webmail, or via IMAP or POP3 using your email client

Export: Download all emails via IMAP, export individual messages as EML files, folders as MBOX files, or additionally as PST files using Outlook. Contacts can be exported as VCF files and calendars as ICS files through webmail.

29. Mailbox migration

Examples: Migrating existing mailboxes to another provider or to Raidboxes

Access: Email overview in the Dashboard

Export: You can export your emails independently via IMAP at any time, free of charge. We also offer an automated mailbox migration service through our partner Audriga. This optional additional service is subject to a fee.

30. Microsoft 365

Examples: Exchange Online mailboxes, calendars and contacts, files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint, Teams content, user information, and license data

You can purchase Microsoft 365 licenses through Raidboxes. However, the actual content is stored by Microsoft, not by Raidboxes.

Access: New Dashboard → Subscriptions → Third-party Providers → Manage Microsoft 365. From there, you can access the Microsoft Admin Center.

Export: The easiest way to export emails, calendars, and contacts is through Outlook as a PST file. You can download files from OneDrive and SharePoint directly through their web interfaces or synchronize them to your computer using the sync client. User and license information can be viewed and exported as CSV files in the Microsoft Admin Center.

Note: You can find your license and billing information at Raidboxes. Microsoft provides the export functions for the actual content.

Export: Copy and paste settings or print to PDF

Legal documents are hosted in the iubenda cloud and embedded into your website.

Access: iubenda Dashboard, accessible through your automatically created iubenda account linked to your Raidboxes account

38. Switching providers and data portability

You can export your entire website and migrate it to another hosting provider at any time. Follow these steps:

  1. Download a backup from your Dashboard.

  2. Additionally, download your files via SFTP if you need a specific version of your website.

  3. Export your database as an SQL dump (already included in your backup).

  4. If you're moving to a different WordPress installation, you can also export your content as a WXR file using the WordPress export tool.

  5. Back up your staging environments separately.

  6. Download your email mailboxes via IMAP and export your calendars and contacts separately.

  7. Request authorization codes for your domains (the domain contracts must be canceled first) and provide them to your new registrar.

  8. Document your configuration settings, including PHP settings, cron jobs, redirects, and caching rules.

  9. Export your legal documents from iubenda if you use the Compliance add-on.

Data that cannot be exported

Certain types of data cannot be exported because they relate exclusively to our infrastructure, are security-sensitive, or do not contain customer-specific information. These include:

  • Internal monitoring and alerting systems

  • Cluster and infrastructure metrics

  • Internal audit logs

  • NGINX and system configuration of the managed hosting environment

  • Security Shield detection rules and signatures

  • Cached content and CDN caches, as these can be regenerated at any time

  • Optimized image variants generated by Performance+, as these can be recreated from your original files

  • Automatically issued Let's Encrypt certificates, as they are tied to your Box and can be reissued free of charge by your new hosting provider

Data export costs

Exporting your data using the methods described above is free of charge.

Additional services that go beyond the switching assistance required by law may be subject to a fee. Currently, this applies to the automated mailbox migration service provided through our partner Audriga.

You can still export your emails independently via IMAP at any time, free of charge.
