Order and Set Up the Accessibility Widget Add-on
With the new Accessibility Widget add-on from Raidboxes, you can quickly and easily optimize your website’s digital accessibility for your visitors.
The widget displays an icon on your website that allows your visitors to customize settings for better readability and viewing (e.g., contrast adjustments, font sizes, reading modes, or hiding images).
iubenda is our partner for compliance solutions (such as cookie banners and privacy policies). The Accessibility Widget is technically provided and managed through the iubenda dashboard.
💡 Complete independence: You don’t need to have an active iubenda add-on for cookie consent or privacy policy to use the Accessibility Widget! It works completely independently of the cookie consent solution you’re using (Consent Manager, Real Cookie Banner, Borlabs, etc.). You can purchase it as a standalone feature.
🛠️ How to Set Up the Accessibility Widget
Setting up the widget takes just a few minutes. The process varies only slightly depending on whether or not you're already using an active iubenda add-on with us.
🔀 Several ways to book: In the following steps, we’ll show you the fastest way to book using the standard Box dashboard. Alternatively, you can add the add-on at any time via the Box settings or through subscription management in our new Dashboard!
Choose the path that's right for you:
A: You already have an active iubenda add-on
Use this method if you've already set up iubenda for cookie banners and privacy policies on Raidboxes.
In the video, you can see the exact steps. Unfortunately, it's currently only available in German, but it will still help you navigate the process.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Add the Accessibility Widget: In your Raidboxes dashboard, go to the Box Overview (or Contract Management) and enable the Accessibility Widget using the toggle switch.
Select a plan: At checkout, choose the appropriate pageview package (e.g., 10,000) for the widget and complete your order.
Open the iubenda Dashboard: Reload the box overview. The widget icon is now green. Click "Go to Dashboard."
Enable the widget: Scroll down in the iubenda Dashboard to the "Accessibility Widget" section, enable it, and verify your domain.
Customize the design: Go to the widget's settings. Here, you can adjust its position on the website (e.g., bottom left) and its colors (e.g., to match your branding).
Embedding (Automatic): Go to the Embed section. Since you've already embedded the iubenda script in the past (e.g., via the plugin or your child theme), you don't need to do anything else here.
✅ Test: Reload your website on the front end. The accessibility icon will now appear next to your cookie banner at the position you selected.
B: You are using ONLY the Accessibility Widget (without the iubenda add-on)
Use this method if, for example, you use a different third-party cookie solution - or none at all - and want only the Accessibility Widget.
In the video, you can see the exact steps. Unfortunately, it's currently only available in German, but it will still help you navigate the process.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Add the Accessibility Widget: In your Raidboxes dashboard, go to the Box Dashboard and enable the Accessibility Widget. Complete the checkout for the corresponding page views.
Open the iubenda Dashboard: Refresh the box overview and click "Go to Dashboard" to access the iubenda Dashboard.
Disable Unnecessary Services: Since you don't need a cookie banner or privacy policy from iubenda, you must explicitly disable and delete these services. To do this, completely uncheck the top checkboxes for "Privacy Policy" and "Cookie Solution" so that only the "Accessibility Widget" remains.
Enable the widget: Scroll directly to the Accessibility Widget, enable it, and verify your domain.
🎨 Customize Design & Language: Go to Settings. Select the layout, customize the colors, and make sure the language is set to the language of your target audience. Save your settings.
Copy the embed code: You could theoretically use the iubenda plugin, but the quickest way in this case is to simply embed the widget manually. Go to "Embed" and copy the code snippet (script) that appears.
Inserting code into WordPress: Log in to your WordPress admin panel. The script must be placed in the
<head>-section of your website.
💡Tip for embedding scripts in WordPress: There are many ways to insert scripts into the header. In the video, we demonstrate how to use a free snippet plugin as an example. (like WP Headers and Footers). This is just one example of many plugin solutions. Use of third-party plugins is at your own risk. Alternatively, you can often add the code directly in your theme’s settings (e.g., in many page builders) or in the functions.php file of your child theme.
✅ Test: Once the code has been saved in your page's header, load your front end. The accessibility widget should now be visible and usable for your visitors in the specified location.
Important Note: The Accessibility Widget provides technical support to help you optimize your website’s digital accessibility. However, it does not constitute legal advice and does not guarantee automatic or complete compliance with specific legal requirements (such as the Accessibility Enhancement Act).
