⚡️ For those rushing: The server details at a glance
If you know how to set up an account and are only looking for the details, you will find everything you need here.
Setting | Incoming Mail (IMAP) | Outgoing Mail (SMTP) |
Server / Hostname |
|
|
Username | Your email address | Your email address |
Password | Your email password | Your email password |
Port | 993 | 587 |
Encryption | SSL / TLS | TLS / STARTTLS |
💡 Note: When copying & pasting the server details, make sure no spaces slip in before or after the address. This happens frequently on smartphones and prevents the connection.
Introduction & important notes
This guide applies both to the new setup of a mailbox and to mailboxes that have been migrated to our new email product.
⚠️ If your mailbox has been migrated to our new email product, please do not try to edit your existing account in your mail client's settings! Instead, set up the mailbox as an additional new account.
Do not delete the "old" account yet! This ensures that no locally saved emails are lost.
Setup on iPhone & iPad (iOS)
Step 1: Add account
Open the Settings app.
Tap on "Apps" > "Mail".
Select Mail Accounts → Add Account.
Enter the email address of your mailbox. Tap Next.
Select the bottom option, Add Other Account...
Tap on Mail Account.
Step 2: Enter details
Enter your name, email address, and password.
Important note for the description:
In case your mailbox was migrated: Enter a unique name here, e.g., "Email Migrated" or "Address 2026". This allows you to immediately distinguish this new account from the old one in your list later.
Then tap Next.
Step 3: Complete configuration
After clicking 'Next', iOS checks the data. If an automatic connection is not possible (which happens often), a mask for manual entry opens:
Incoming Mail Server:
Hostname:
mail-rb.securemail.proUsername: Your full email address
Password: Your email password (should already be filled in)
Outgoing Mail Server:
Hostname:
smtp-rb.securemail.proUsername: Your full email address
Password: Your email password
Tap Next. The device will check the connection. Finally, tap Save.
⚠️ iOS marks the fields under "Outgoing Mail Server" as 'Optional'. Please make sure to fill in the username and password anyway, otherwise no emails can be sent.
Setup in Apple Mail (macOS)
Step 1: Start a new account
Open the Mail app on your Mac.
Click on Mail > Add Account ... in the top menu bar.
Select Other Mail Account … in the list and click Continue.
Step 2: Enter login details
Enter your name, email address, and password. Click Sign In.
If it works immediately: Perfect! Select that you want to use "Mail" and click Done.
If the message "Unable to verify account name or password" appears: You will now be shown fields for server details.
Step 3: Manual server details (if necessary)
Fill in the fields as follows:
Email Address: Your email address
Username: Your email address (Important: Use the full email address here too).
Password: Your email password
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming Mail Server:
mail-rb.securemail.proOutgoing Mail Server:
smtp-rb.securemail.proClick Sign In.
Step 4: Check account details and IMAP folder assignment (Optional)
Finally, you can check all settings of the mail account, as well as its assignment of the IMAP folders again. To do this, click on Mail → Settings in the menu at the top and select the newly set up mail account in the "Accounts" tab.
In the Mailbox Behaviors menu, you can now check the assigned IMAP folders again. Usually, the assignment should look like this if your mail client or mailbox uses the standard IMAP folders.
If the IMAP folders are not linked here as desired, or are generally not displayed as expected, switch to the Server Settings menu and click on the Advanced IMAP Settings button.
💡 The IMAP Path Prefix should be INBOX
Finally, click the Save button to apply the configuration. All IMAP folders should now be displayed.
Only for migrated mailboxes: Notes on the "old" account
If you have set up your mailbox again because we migrated your mailbox to our new mail servers, please note the following points:
1. Why do I see two inboxes now?
Since you haven't deleted the old account (for security reasons), you will now see two accounts in your overview.
The old account no longer works for receiving (often recognizable by a warning symbol ⚠️). It now only serves as an archive of your old emails.
The new account (e.g., "Email Migrated") receives your new messages from now on.
2. Tip: "Mute" (Deactivate) the old account
So that the old account no longer throws error messages, but the old emails are preserved, we recommend deactivating it (not deleting!):
iOS (iPhone/iPad):
Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > [Old Account]. Turn off the switch for "Mail" there. The account disappears from the Mail app, but remains in the settings.
macOS (Apple Mail):
Go to Mail > Settings > Accounts > [Old Account]. Uncheck "Enable this account".
You can reactivate the account at any time if needed to look up old emails.
Frequently Asked Questions (Troubleshooting)
My sent emails or the trash are missing
Sometimes Apple Mail does not assign the special folders automatically.
In the folder list of the new account, look for the folder that should actually be "Sent" (often called "Sent" or "Sent Items").
Select this folder.
In the menu at the top, click on Mailbox > Use This Mailbox As ... > Sent Mailbox.
